About Octave One

Octave One is the Detroit techno group led by brothers Lenny and Lawrence Burden, with occasional involvement from other siblings. They first emerged at the end of the 1980s through Derrick May’s Transmat orbit, then helped build their own platform with the 430 West label. Their catalog includes the enduring track “Blackwater,” later revisited with a live-string arrangement and widely reissued, alongside remixes for artists such as Massive Attack and Inner City. In New York City, they bring their hardware-driven, performance-minded setup to spaces like Knockdown Center, favoring structure and momentum over spectacle.
