About Nels Cline

Nels Cline is an American guitarist and composer whose work moves between rock and jazz, often blurring the line between song structure and open improvisation. Known widely for his long-running role in Wilco, he also keeps an active collaborative life in New York City rooms such as LPR (Le Poisson Rouge), Pioneer Works, and Brooklyn Bowl. Recent appearances include Medeski, Martin, Metzger & Cline Phish after-parties and projects with John Medeski, Billy Martin, Scott Metzger, Jimmy Rip, Lee Ranaldo, and EUCADEMIX. His playing favors curiosity over polish, with tone and texture doing much of the storytelling.
