Margaret Glaspy is a New York City–based singer-songwriter whose work draws on country songwriting with a lean, modern edge. She moved to the city at 21 and built her early career playing local rooms before signing with ATO Records. Her first full-length, *Emotions and Math*, was made under her own direction, followed by the *Born Yesterday* EP and the album *Devotion*. On bills such as Steve Earle’s solo and acoustic residency at Gramercy Theatre, her performances favor clarity over spectacle.
