Małgorzata Mirga-Tas: Performing Artist in New York

About Małgorzata Mirga-Tas

Małgorzata Mirga-Tas is a Polish Romani artist whose practice moves between painting, textile-based work, and sculpture, shaped by activism, feminist politics, and education. She gained wide attention after receiving Poland’s Paszport Polityki arts award and later representing Poland at the 2022 Venice Biennale, marking a first for a Romani artist at that event. In New York, her work is presented through exhibitions at the Jewish Museum. Her images favor directness over allegory, treating Romani life as lived history rather than motif.
