About Jesse Davis

Jesse Davis is an American jazz saxophonist shaped early on by the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts under Ellis Marsalis. After school he built a steady recording career, releasing multiple albums for Concord Jazz and working with bandleaders including Jack McDuff and Illinois Jacquet. He also studied at Northeastern Illinois University and earned a DownBeat “Most Outstanding Musician” award in 1989. At New York City’s Smalls Jazz Club, his hard-bop leaning sets favor line and swing over display.
