Jason Yeager and Justin Poindexter Honor Bill Crow and Steve Little: Jazz Musician in New York

About Jason Yeager and Justin Poindexter Honor Bill Crow and Steve Little

Jason Yeager and Justin Poindexter bring a working jazz musician’s perspective to Dizzy’s Club, leading a program that honors bassist Bill Crow and drummer Steve Little. Their set draws on repertoire and arrangements associated with the Gerry Mulligan ensembles that shaped postwar modern jazz, using the material as a lens on craft and history. Yeager’s writing and Poindexter’s bass-centered leadership emphasize structure, line, and ensemble balance over display. In New York, the band treats the clubstand as a place for documentation as much as performance.
