Ikenobo: Performing Group in New York

About Ikenobo

Ikenobō is a lineage-based school of ikebana, working through disciplined study of line, balance, and seasonal material. In New York City, the group has maintained an ongoing presence, marking forty years with a program at the Noguchi Museum that places flower arrangements in conversation with Isamu Noguchi’s sculptural spaces. Their practice treats plants as living form rather than decoration, emphasizing structure, interval, and the architecture of a room. The work favors clarity over display, letting small shifts in placement change how space reads.
