Ginger Root is the indie-soul project led by Huntington Beach songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Cameron Lew. Built around a tight, city-pop-leaning groove, the music threads rock and pop through references that run from funk bands like Vulfpeck to Japanese electronic pop such as Yellow Magic Orchestra. Onstage, Lew operates as bandleader and arranger as much as front person, keeping the focus on rhythm, transitions, and ensemble detail over spectacle. In New York City, the project brings that approach to rooms like Mercury Lounge.
