About Flying Lotus

Flying Lotus is the Los Angeles–based producer, DJ, and filmmaker Steven Ellison, known for albums that move between IDM, experimental hip hop, nu jazz, and glitch. He runs the Brainfeeder label and has also worked in adjacent mediums, from Adult Swim bumper music to the Captain Murphy rap project and the FlyLo FM station in Grand Theft Auto V. In New York City he brings his live DJ sets to venues like Knockdown Center, sharing bills with artists such as EYE, Olof Dreijer, and Black Dice. His performances favor dense sound design and quick shifts in rhythm over stage spectacle.
