About Eric Person

Eric Person is a New York–based alto and soprano saxophonist who has worked steadily in the city since arriving in 1982. A leader of the group Meta-Four, he has shared bandstands and sessions with McCoy Tyner, Dave Holland, Donald Byrd, Chico Hamilton, and the World Saxophone Quartet, as well as artists from rock and funk worlds including Vernon Reid and Bootsy Collins. At The Django he brings his quartet format into focus, balancing open-ended, free-jazz language with a clear melodic throughline.
