About Egberto Gismonti
Egberto Gismonti is a Brazilian composer and instrumentalist known for working as both guitarist and pianist, moving easily between jazz language and Brazilian forms. His music has circulated widely through collaborations and shared bills with artists such as Milton Nascimento, Frank Zappa, and Todd Rundgren. In New York City he appears in programs at Iridium that place his compositions alongside those composers’ songcraft and cross-genre writing. His performances tend to favor structure and color over display, with careful attention to harmony and rhythm.
