About Core-tet

Core-tet is a small-group jazz project heard at Smalls Jazz Club, where New York saxophonist and flutist Rob Scheps leads the ensemble. Scheps trained at the New England Conservatory and built his language over years on the city’s club circuit. The group’s book often features bassist Ricky Rodriguez, with ties to the Ricky Rodriguez Quartet, and it has intersected with Scheps’ quartet work as well. Their sets tend to emphasize line and forward motion over display.
