Comic Relief: Comedian in New York

About Comic Relief

Comic Relief is a comedy project best known for its televised benefit shows that ran from the late 1980s into the 2000s, using standup, sketch, music, and short documentary reporting to raise significant funds for homelessness relief in the U.S. In New York City, it has shared bills at Town Hall, including appearances tied to the NY Comedy Festival and collaborations with The Moth. The format moves between jokes and testimony, keeping social issues in view without turning the stage into a lecture. Its performances favor directness over polish, with purpose built into the structure.
