Brass Tacks is a New York City–based group heard in the city’s small-room jazz circuit, including sets at Arthur’s Tavern. The project is closely associated with saxophonist, woodwind player, and composer Danny Lipsitz, who has led the band there under the billing “Danny Lipsitz His Brass Tacks.” The name also nods to NRBQ’s 2014 album *Brass Tacks*, though the ensemble’s work sits in jazz and free improvisation.
