Bennie Wallace: BackCountry Jazz: Jazz Musician in New York

About Bennie Wallace: BackCountry Jazz

Bennie Wallace: BackCountry Jazz centers on the tenor saxophonist’s plainspoken command of jazz ballads and hard bop. At New York City’s Dizzy’s Club, Wallace appears in a working-band format with drummer Herlin Riley, a longtime New York presence and a regular at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Riley’s resume spans collaborations across Caribbean and Latin jazz circles, including Kes, Etienne Charles, and Eddie Palmieri. Their sets favor line, rhythm, and balance over spectacle, letting the tune structure stay in view.
