    About The Cecilia Smith Ensemble

The Cecilia Smith Ensemble is a jazz group heard in New York City settings such as Smalls Jazz Club, often in programs curated by pianist and bandleader Lafayette Harris. Their work appears alongside Harris’s quartet and quintet lineups, placing the ensemble in a working repertory of small-group arrangements. The group draws on the overlapping worlds Harris moves through, including straight-ahead jazz and the song-based craft of Broadway and R&B. Their performances favor clear ensemble interplay over display.
