About Shane Shanahan Quartet
The Shane Shanahan Quartet is a contemporary-classical group heard in New York City at National Sawdust, including on Silkroad’s Up-Close programs. Their work sits inside Silkroad’s tradition of cross-cultural, ensemble-based exchange, with improvisation treated as part of the compositional fabric. The quartet has shared stages with artists such as Yacouba Sissoko, Mike Block, Maeve Gilchrist, Seamus Egan, and Kaoru Watanabe. Their performances favor clarity of interplay over spectacle, keeping attention on timbre, pulse, and listening.
