    About Spirit Stage 3

Spirit Stage 3 is a classical-leaning ensemble heard in New York City contexts that value experimentation and contemporary practice. The group has appeared at Roulette, including as part of AACM NYC’s 61st anniversary program alongside multi-instrumentalist JD Parran and composers Adegoke Steve Colson and Iqua Colson. Their work sits close to the AACM lineage, treating composition and improvisation as shared responsibilities. Performances favor structure over display, with attention to ensemble balance and shifting timbre.
