Tom Verlaine: Singer-Songwriter in New York

About Tom Verlaine

Tom Verlaine was a singer, guitarist, and songwriter closely identified with New York City’s rock underground, known for leading the band Television and for a parallel solo path. His work sits at the intersection of proto-punk, post-punk, and art rock, with an emphasis on wiry guitar lines and elliptical storytelling. At venues such as Mercury Lounge, programs like *TMOTV: The Music of Tom Verlaine* trace material from both his band years and solo recordings. His performances tend to favor precision and tension over display.
