About NYE Karaoke & Dance Party-NO COVER- in the Backroom
NYE Karaoke & Dance Party–No Cover–in the Backroom is a recurring community night at Freddy’s Bar in Brooklyn, built around open participation rather than booked acts. Its roots sit alongside the venue’s open-mic ecosystem, including Mimsey’s Open Mic, Humans Against Music, the Monday and Wednesday comedy mics, and the monthly storytelling series “So What Happened Was…”. The format centers on karaoke as a loose performance laboratory, with dance and crowd handoffs shaping the room. The approach favors accessibility and momentum over polish.
