Catharsis: Rock Band in New York

About Catharsis

Catharsis is a New York City–adjacent rock/pop group that draws from heavier underground lineages, with touchpoints in mathcore, metalcore, and hardcore punk. They have appeared at Brooklyn’s Market Hotel, including bills like Scenic Presents: Panopticon with Catharsis and Family Garden, and on genre-mixing nights that share space with party and punk programming. Their songs tend to move in tight, percussive structures, treating melody as something earned rather than assumed. The approach favors directness over ornament, even when the arrangements get dense.
