Tim Ries: Jazz Musician in New York

About Tim Ries

Tim Ries is a saxophonist, composer, and arranger whose career moves between jazz, rock, classical, and experimental settings. He is known for The Rolling Stones Project, which reframes that repertoire through jazz orchestration, and he also works as a conservatory-level educator in jazz studies. In New York City he appears at venues such as Smalls Jazz Club and The Django, leading groups including the Tim Ries Septet and Tim Ries Quartet. His writing favors clear structures that leave space for direct, open-ended improvisation.
