About Liturgy
Liturgy is a Brooklyn-based black metal project led by Haela Hunt-Hendrix, rooted in New York City’s experimental music lineage. Their work reframes black metal through a personal theory of transcendence, articulated in Hunt-Hendrix’s writings and carried into composition and performance. Across releases and live sets, the group folds in procedures and textures associated with progressive rock, hip hop, and electronic music, alongside influences drawn from figures such as Glenn Branca and La Monte Young. The approach favors rigor and structure over spectacle, a fit for ISSUE Project Room.
