Ben Barnett Quartet: Jazz Ensemble in New York

About Ben Barnett Quartet

The Ben Barnett Quartet is a New York City–based jazz group heard at small-room venues including Ornithology Jazz Club in Brooklyn. Led by Ben Barnett, the quartet works in the working-band tradition, shaping sets around close listening and quick shifts in rhythm and harmony. Members and collaborators have included Todd Herbert, Jeremy Manasia, Jason Clotter, Larry Banks, Anthony Pearlman, Brent Lerman, Jules Gardener, and Charlie Lincoln. The band’s playing favors clear ensemble balance over display, with solos emerging from the arrangement rather than sitting on top of it.
