Angelica Sanchez: Jazz Musician in New York

About Angelica Sanchez

Angelica Sanchez is a New York–based pianist and composer whose work moves between jazz language and contemporary classical structure. In the city she appears in settings from The Jazz Gallery, where she leads the Angelica Sanchez Nonet, to Roulette on cross-genre bills that include Bathed in Sound and the James Brandon Lewis Trio. She maintains a long-running quartet with Tony Malaby, Drew Gress, and Tom Rainey, and has also performed with Rob Mazurek’s Exploding Star Orchestra. Her playing favors density and shifting ensemble color, with clarity over spectacle.
