Bill Crow: Jazz Musician in New York

About Bill Crow

Bill Crow is an American jazz bassist whose work is closely associated with the cool-school repertoire of the mid‑century. He was the longtime bassist in Gerry Mulligan’s bands through the 1950s and 1960s, a role that placed him at the center of an era defined by lean arrangements and precise ensemble interplay. In New York City, his legacy is heard at venues like Dizzy’s Club, where musicians such as Jason Yeager and Justin Poindexter have presented programs honoring his music. Crow’s playing favors time, balance, and a clear sense of line over display.
