The Imaginary Invalid: Theater Company in New York

About The Imaginary Invalid

The Imaginary Invalid is a theater group centered on Molière’s late comédie-ballet about illness, vanity, and medical fashion, staged with spoken comedy alongside music and movement. In New York City, the production has been presented at the Todd Haimes Theatre, placing a French classic in a Broadway context. The ensemble’s work draws on traditions of physical comedy and stagecraft associated with collaborators like Bill Irwin. Their approach favors precision and timing over spectacle, letting the farce sharpen into social observation.
