August Bish: Jazz Musician in New York

About August Bish

August Bish is a New York City–based jazz artist who appears at Ornithology Jazz Club, a frequent testing ground for small-group improvisers. In performance, Bish works in collaborative settings, with past associations including Todd Herbert, Jeremy Manasia, Jason Clotter, Larry Banks, Anthony Pearlman, Brent Lerman, Jules Gardener, and Charlie Lincoln. The work centers on ensemble listening and clear, functional lines rather than spectacle. Recent bills at Ornithology place Bish in the club’s nightly flow of working bands and rotating lineups.
