Oliver Hardy: Performing Artist in New York

About Oliver Hardy

Oliver Hardy is an American screen comedian best known as one half of the Laurel and Hardy partnership, a long-running act that moved from silent shorts into sound-era features and cameos. Before that fame, he logged early film work under the name “Babe” Hardy and built a reputation for precise physical timing. His comedy favors clarity over spectacle, using small gestures and pauses to set up larger turns. In New York City, his legacy surfaces in repertory contexts, including programs presented at Symphony Space.
