Dizzy Gillespie Birthday: Jazz Musician in New York

About Dizzy Gillespie Birthday

Dizzy Gillespie Birthday is a New York City–rooted jazz program that centers the trumpeter’s songbook and the sound of modern bebop. At Dizzy’s Club, the set list moves through bebop and Afro-Cuban and Latin jazz, with room for hard-bop punch and big-band phrasing. The project has been closely associated with trumpeter Jon Faddis, including appearances billed as “Dizzy Gillespie Birthday with Jon Faddis.” The performances favor rhythmic precision and clear melodic lines over spectacle.
