Mark Shim: Jazz Musician in New York

About Mark Shim

Mark Shim is a jazz tenor saxophonist heard on New York City bandstands, including Ornithology Jazz Club. He has worked alongside players such as Todd Herbert, Jeremy Manasia, Jason Clotter, Larry Banks, Anthony Pearlman, Brent Lerman, Jules Gardener, and Charlie Lincoln, moving between small-group settings with ease. His playing favors direct melodic lines and an unforced sense of time over display. For “Jazz at Ornithology — September 29,” he brings that understated focus into a close-room context.
