Dead Moon is a Portland-rooted garage rock group whose sound sits between stripped-down rock and proto-punk. Active from 1987 to 2006, with a later reunion run, the band built a catalog across studio, live, and compilation releases while co-founder Toody Cole also helped run Tombstone Records. In New York City, their orbit includes shows at Union Pool, including appearances tied to Cole’s work with her own band. The playing favors directness and grit over polish.
