Marisa Anderson is a Portland-based guitarist and composer whose work draws on American primitive fingerstyle while moving through rock and pop-adjacent forms. Raised in Northern California, she spent years traveling around the U.S. and Mexico before settling in the Pacific Northwest, a history that shows up in her wide-ranging melodic vocabulary. Her sets often unfold through improvisation on acoustic and electric guitar, with occasional turns to keyboards and other instruments. At Union Pool, she shares the bill with Che Chen, placing her clear, direct playing against his pulse-driven electronics.
