About Rob Scheps

Rob Scheps is a New York–based jazz saxophonist and flutist who began on tenor saxophone as a child and later trained at the New England Conservatory. After leading ensembles in the Boston area, he relocated to New York in the late 1980s and built projects that ranged from small-group work to larger band writing. At Smalls Jazz Club, he fronts the Rob Scheps Quartet, including collaborations with players such as Ricky Rodriguez. His playing tends to favor line, detail, and forward motion over overt display.
