The Motels are a Berkeley-born rock/pop group whose early-’80s new wave records produced radio staples like “Only the Lonely” and “Suddenly Last Summer,” alongside international charting tracks such as “Total Control” and “Danger.” Led by a clean, narrative-first songwriting style, their work favors tension and atmosphere over flash. In New York City, they appear at The Rooftop at Pier 17 as part of the Totally Tubular Festival. Their touring history includes bills with Thomas Dolby, A Flock of Seagulls, Animotion, and Tommy Tutone.
