About Docents

Docents is a New York City–based group working at the seam between rock/pop songcraft and open-form improvisation. On bills at Purgatory and its basement circuit, they move through post-punk, noise rock, indie punk, and egg punk vocabulary while keeping room for collapse and reassembly in real time. Their network includes collaborators and shared stages with DJ TK, Porcelain Vivisection, Clown Syndrome, Uncle Blender, Consumer Culture, Grace Givertz, Adelyn Strei, and Hannah Thompson. The approach favors immediacy over polish, with structure treated as a temporary agreement.
