Carlos Henriquez Septet is a New York City–based jazz ensemble led by bassist and composer Carlos Henriquez, whose work includes long-standing ties to the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra. At Dizzy’s Club, the group extends Henriquez’s ongoing project of building mid-sized bands, drawing on Latin jazz, Afro-Cuban rhythms, and modern jazz writing. The septet has shared the stage in related configurations with collaborators such as Akshra Yagnik, Luz Velázquez, and trumpeter Oni Marsalis. The performances favor drive and ensemble detail over showmanship.
