About Pateka

Pateka is a New York City–based group working in free-form performance and sound. They appear regularly in downtown rooms like Purgatory, including the series DOWNSTAIRS: Karaoke (Free). In past bills they have shared lineups with DJ TK, Porcelain Vivisection, Clown Syndrome, Uncle Blender, Consumer Culture, Grace Givertz, Adelyn Strei, and Hannah Thompson. Their sets favor improvisation and attentive listening over fixed repertoire, treating the venue itself as part of the instrument.
